The French Open is one of the four major Grand Slam tennis tournaments held annually and is the second of the year - tournament is held annually at Stade Roland Garros in Paris. The tournament features men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles, mixed doubles, and wheelchair competitions. Driven by the seven rounds needed for a championship, the clay surface characteristics (slower pace, higher bounce), and the best-of-five-set men's singles matches, the French Open is regarded as the most physically demanding tennis tournament in the world. The French Open is the first Grand Slam tournament to join the "Open" era in 1968. Do note - The Open Era is the current era of professional tennis. It began in 1968 when the Grand Slam tournaments allowed professional players to compete with amateurs.
  • There have been 55 Title Recognitions with 27 Champions.
  • Rafael Nadal has won the tournament a record 14x. Only one of two players all time to have won 10x majors in one slam (with the other being Novak Djokovic 10x in the Australian). Bjorn Borg is second winning it 6x.
  • Winning a major 14x is not only the most ever won in any tournament, let alone a major, is considered to be one of the most unbreakable records in all of sports.
  • A total of 9 players have won the tournament at least twice.
  • Novak Djokovic winning the French Open in 2023, made him the first ever player to complete the Career Slam 3x. This broke a tie with Rafael Nadal, where only both players have a minimum of 2x of Career Slams.
