The one axiomatic truth in the Tennis GOAT debate, it is between the Big 3 - Rafa, Roger, and Novak. That is non-debatable. But, who is the Greatest between those 3!?! Now, this part does get very tenuous. And this is one of the few sports topics that can get as dicey as politics. 

But if we have to pick one, Rafael Nadal! Please do read more of why we say this, because we are not anti Novak or Roger because we put Rafa as first.

The following are interesting facts when you break down Grand Slams by Player and Country: 
  • There is only one player in the Open Era that has won +10% of all Grand Slams, being Rafael Nadal. Djokovic and Federer are right behind with 9.6% each and 9.2%. 
  • The Top 10 Players have won 58% of all Grand Slams, indicating there is a relatively longer tail champions. However, the Big 3 have won more than a quarter of all Grand Slams (29%).
  • The Top 5 Countries of All Time Grand Slam champions are USA, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Serbia; with the following player champion breakdown respectively: 13, 8, 4, 2, and 1. 
  • There have been 58 Grand Slam Winners, from 20 different countries in the Open Era.

Year End Number One in Men's Tennis

​To reach number one in Men's Tennis is an outstanding achievement, that only 
twenty eight players have ever hit. And then of those twenty seven, only eighteen have ever finished the year as Number One. Therefore, it is something in the sport that should hold importance (not more than Grand Slams but they are connected), and therefore is worthy of documenting and updating throughout the year.
